Discover Ferrara

See Ferrara on foot, live it by bike.

The Castello Estense is across the square. From here, the whole historic centre is a few minutes away: the Renaissance palaces, the ghetto, the medieval streets, and around them the city walls, to ride round by bike.

Palaces and museums

Tips · Spotted by Zeno

The places I know and go to.

Restaurants, shops, artisans, bars for an aperitivo, and outside the city Comacchio and Ravenna. Not a list of addresses: these are the places I go to myself, with the walking time from the hotel and notes for people who eat vegetarian, vegan or gluten free.

Further afield

Out of town, towards the sea.

A bridge over the canals of Comacchio
Comacchio, the little Venice. It is enchanting in May and October, with that light mist that muffles the canals and the little houses.Zeno’s tip: stay a night at Al Ponticello, with Sarah and Riccardo. They are lovely people, and Riccardo, a nature guide, will show you unique places in Comacchio and the lagoons.53 km from the hotel, by car.
The lagoons of the Po Delta, between water and reeds
The Po Delta.Zeno’s tip: a night at Osteria Arcadia, to taste its excellent food and to take a boat trip with the son of Pamela, the owner. He takes you into the lagoons of the Delta and introduces you to Ostra Bora, the oyster he farms himself.Osteria Arcadia is in Santa Giulia di Porto Tolle, 80 km from the hotel, by car.
